“Where the wind begins”

Kites have long been part of Balinese culture. Traditionally made from bamboo and cloth, they are flown during the dry season when strong winds arrive across the island. This mural was created on the wall of a traditional kite shop in Batuan, Gianyar. Inspired by the kites made and sold in the shop, I painted my own interpretation of a kite, surrounded by characters and plants that feel playful and light. The work celebrates the spirit of kite flying in Bali 💫
