“Sea, Sun, and Stories” for Saladina Festival Spain

"Sea, Sun, and Stories"
Saladina Festival, Can Picafort, Mallorca, Spain (2023)
Sea, Sun, and Stories captures the deep bond between the people of Can Picafort and the sea that shapes their daily lives. The mural portrays a young girl fishing from a traditional boat, symbolizing the community’s enduring connection to its maritime roots. At the center, a large pot—a recurring motif in Yessi’s work—represents tradition, creativity, and continuity. Perched playfully within it, a duck pays homage to the village’s festive customs.
The mural evokes the warmth of Can Picafort’s summer days: children playing in the waves, families gathering along the shore, and grandmothers chatting under the sun. Through its vivid imagery and symbolism, it becomes a celebration of unity, heritage, and the rhythm of coastal life.
Curated by Joan Aguiló, this piece stands as a visual love letter to a village where tradition and contemporary art flow together seamlessly, much like the sea that continues to inspire it.
