"Echoes of Nature" Mural for Urban Pictus

"Echoes of Nature"
Urban Pictus, Brno, Czech Republic (2024)
In August 2024, Yessi was invited to the Czech Republic to create a mural for Urban Pictus, transforming a power building into a large-scale artwork. Her time in Brno and Prague left a lasting impression. Prague, especially, struck her as one of the most charming and welcoming cities she had ever visited. The trip became more than just a painting project; it was filled with meaningful encounters, art discussions, and quiet moments by a lake that deepened her connection to the place.
The mural, titled Echoes of Nature, draws inspiration from Lužánky, Brno’s largest and oldest municipal park. Dating back to the 13th century, the park was originally known as Augarten and first donated by a local resident, Niger, to the Herburský Monastery. Later cared for by the Jesuits, it became a meditative garden and a site for spiritual reflection. Today, Lužánky stands as a National Monument, representing both historical continuity and the city’s enduring relationship with nature.
Through this mural, Yessi sought to capture the park’s timeless serenity and its role as a space where nature and community coexist. The piece celebrates Lužánky’s deep-rooted history while reflecting her ongoing interest in places that connect people, memory, and environment.
Special thanks to @petr.kopal.photographer, @petrhajek, and @thechemistrygallery for their support and hospitality throughout the project.
