"Each One Braid One" for DUK Festival Serbia

"Each One Braid One"
Mural on 180m2 Wall
DUK Festival, Čačak, Serbia
In early June, Yessi and Stijn traveled to Serbia to paint their largest mural to date with DUK Festival. The wall faced the sun all day, making the process challenging under the intense heat, but they managed to complete the mural on time.
It was Yessi’s first time in Serbia, and the experience turned out to be unexpectedly heartwarming. The DUK team organized everything with care, ensuring the artists felt supported throughout the project. The trip became a memorable early summer experience filled with new friendships, beautiful views, and a deeper understanding of Serbian culture.

Titled “Each One Braid One,” the mural is inspired by Yessi’s childhood memories with her mother, who braided her hair every morning before school while giving advice and encouragement for the day ahead. Growing up in a knitting factory with both parents as knitting artists, these moments shaped Yessi’s sense of care and creativity.
Now that she often travels for work, this memory holds an even deeper meaning. The mural celebrates those intimate connections with loved ones. The small, everyday gestures that stay with us and shape who we become. For Yessi, this piece is a tribute to her mother and to the enduring warmth of family.
