"Gotong Royong”
Baladk Street Art Festival, Amman, Jordan – 2023

Yessiow was invited to participate in Baladk Street Art Festival in Jordan, an experience she described as one of the most memorable in her mural journey. The warm hospitality and vibrant atmosphere of the festival made a strong impression on her, leaving her grateful to the entire Baladk team for their support and organization.
Her mural, titled Gotong Royong, draws inspiration from the Indonesian philosophy of mutual cooperation. The concept emphasizes collective responsibility within a community sharing burdens, supporting one another, and nurturing trust through shared acts of care. The artwork portrays two women helping each other, symbolizing solidarity and compassion.

Through this visual narrative, Yessiow reflects on how Gotong Royong can extend beyond daily life to address broader social issues, such as challenging stigma and misconceptions around mental health. The piece serves as a gentle reminder of how empathy and cooperation can strengthen both individuals and communities.
